Drug Intervention Steps: Drug Abuse Rehab Works But Why?
Everyone approaches the drug intervention steps differently. A drug intervention isn’t just the point where family and friends come together and confront the addict. Usually, before it gets to that point family members and friends have already talked to each other and tried to help the person in their life that they feel has a real problem. They’ve talked to them one on one and talked to them with two or three people present. They didn’t get really serious with the addict at first they just kind of mentioned that they thought there were drinking too much or needed to tone it down or stop with the drugs. They didn’t approach it at first like you need rehab. Usually, in these types of situations the addict will agree and say that they’ve realized this too and that they are already taking steps to stop or they’ll make excuses for why they did what they did.
It’s usually not until they’ve fallen down a few times, embarrassed themselves and others in a public situation that family and friends start researching an alcohol abuse treatment center for the addict. At this point they may visit the center and talk to the people that are there and they may feel that they addict doesn’t need something that seems as drastic as a drug abuse rehab. They look at the other addicts or they listen to how the interventionist is talking and they think that’s not their loved one. They are in a certain amount of denial too. Addiction doesn’t have one face it has many faces and usually you as a loved one are not see the entire face of your friend or loved one when it comes to their addiction. They are probably doing things that until the interventionist tells you to look out for you don’t even see.
