What’s Alternative Sentencing For A Meth Intervention About?
If your loved one or friend needs a meth intervention because while on meth they committed a crime, sometimes alternative sentencing is an option. Meth, alcohol or gambling all need some type of intervention, whether it’s a gambling intervention or otherwise. You’ve definitely see celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Robert Downey Jr. commit crimes while they were felonies or misdemeanors and be sentenced to rehab instead of jail. Judges don’t do this just for celebrities. Usually, depending on the severity of the crime, a lawyer will recommend rehab first because jail. A judge will a lot of times if it’s a first offense and if no one was injured or killed as a result of the addict’s crime agree to rehab and wave jail. However, if the addiction continues to mess up after they’ve been given this opportunity to get better by a judge the judge will usually throw the book at them.
The problem is that jails are overcrowded and a lot of times the addict gets released within days of being sent to jail. They don’t end up learning a lesson nor do they get the treatment that they desperately need. Sometimes jail and rehab aren’t even recommended by a judge and the addict just has to do community service. In this case, if you felt the judge should have thrown the book at the addict or sent them to rehab so that they could finally get well then it makes sense to intervene and do an intervention with friends and family on their behalf. It’s not 100 percent clear what you should do but if you do nothing then you can expect that the addict will continue to slip up. Sometimes when an addict ends up in front of a judge because of their drinking or drug problem it scares them so much that they ask for help before anyone needs to intervene.
