Intervention for Alcoholics: With Air Recovery You Can Get Better

During a drug abuse intervention the drug user might be too looped up on drugs to even be able to talk to. If you are dealing with someone like this who is always high, always on something getting through to them is going to be your biggest challenge. Even when you are doing an intervention for alcoholics there is a certain level of denial and the addict can be bone sober when that’s happening. The best way to go about an intervention is always to talk to someone from air recovery. You do not want to blow your one opportunity to talk to the addict about their drinking or drug problem. An intervention knows addiction better than anyone and knows how to deal with even the toughest cases.

When an addict has a larger than life personality and is grandiose – Charlie Sheen is a good example of that – they can be close to impossible to get through to. They will fight you every step of the way. That’s why it’s so important to get that unbiased person in the room who has heard all the excuses before and knows how to deal with them. If you love the addict you are going to fall for their excuses: I’m going to quit, you’re right, I’m going to cut back, I recognize I have a problem too and I am going to go to a meeting. Or you are going to believe that they need to drink because of a stressful relationship or job. You probably aren’t going to want to fight with them and therefore you are going to say okay, sorry I was wrong. An interventionist doesn’t do that. An interventionist says: you’re family and friends have told me about x,y, x and when they come back with I have a stressful job they are going to say and you are abusing alcohol to deal with it.
