The best way to find out what those things are is to consult an interventionist and have one present to keep things on track during the intervention.
Alternative To Incarceration: Is Rehab Always Better Than Jail?
Rehab is better than jail for an addict or has made a mistake as a result of drinking or doing drugs and has found themselves in front of law enforcement. If this is the addicts first or second offense and it’s clear that they have a problem and it took coming before a judge for them to realize it than an alternative to incarceration will be presented. No one wants to see someone going through the DTs behind bars. However, if an addict repeatedly breaks the law because of a drinking or drug problem and goes to rehab and comes out and continues to make the same mistakes then jail might be the only thing to straighten them out.
Air Recovery: Taking Steps Forward Toward Sobriety
Air recovery is the goal of any rehab and family and friends and the addict if the addict is truly committed to getting sober and staying sober. The first step toward sobriety is admitting that you have a problem and that your problem is bigger than you. You need to be humble. Rehab is hard work. Some rehabs are harder than others because they really tighten the belt. They teach the addict how to exist without drugs and alcohol and sometimes that means taking things away from the addict that they can use as a crutch or to hide from until they are ready to deal with the issues they are having and why they turn to drugs or alcohol to deal with them.
A Relationship Post Rehab
Most rehabs will encourage an addict not to get into a new relationship for six months to a year of their sobriety because of the fact that a relationship can put a lot of stress on an addict that is trying to stay sober and exist in their life without drugs and alcohol.
