Alcohol Recovery: Finding The Answers In Alcohol Rehab

Alcohol Rehab: Sometimes It Doesn’t Happen The First Time

Just because you got the person in your life who has an addiction problem into an alcohol rehab doesn’t mean they are going to suddenly be your sober best friend again. They may go through rehab and go through the steps and they may talk like a person who really wants to be in recovery but the minute they hit the doors of that rehab, they may go straight back to the bottle. They may even drop off the map and not talk to you for awhile, until they fall down again. You can be hurt. You can be angry. You can feel jilted but it doesn’t mean that you are at fault.

Alcohol Recovery: In Recovery For The Wrong Reasons

If you are in alcohol recovery because your spouse threatened to leave you or because your kids asked you to get into recovery or because your boss threatened then the chances that you may slip are greater than if you are in recovery because you want to get sober. Not that people don’t get sober because of these reasons and not that these aren’t great reasons to decide that you aren’t going to drink anymore and you are going to get help. It’s just that you still need to do it because you want to as well. Sometimes when you get sober for these reasons it means that there is something more important to you than alcohol.

Reasons People Slip Post Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers

It happens. It doesn’t happen all the time but people do slip post being in an alcohol rehabilitation centers treatment facility. Why do they slip? They slip because they aren’t ready for recovery yet. They still think they are bigger than their drug or alcohol problem. Another reason is they don’t have a support system set up. Another reason is they think they can go back to it one more time. There are lots of reasons. It’s not the end when an addict slips. They just need to get help.
