Alcohol Rehab
If you suspect you have a problem with alcohol, you should know that problem drinking is a disease that will not go away without rehab. In fact, it will only grow worse. But with the right alcohol rehab program, recovery and long-term sobriety are achievable.
Alcohol treatment begins with detox, a period of several days during which the body is cleansed of the toxins that come from drinking wine, alcohol or beer in excess. "Cleaning out" may cause unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, depression, sweats or chills, and "the shakes" (Delirium Tremens), but it is a necessary first step in recovering from alcohol addiction.
Once alcohol detox is complete, the patient receives intensive inpatient counseling to find the underlying psychological issues at the heart of the problem. This may include group therapy sessions, where the patient is given the non-judgmental, guilt-free emotional support required to start a new life without alcohol.
